Seasonal flower information

Beginning with early spring plums, March is famous for cherry blossoms as a scenic marvel, April to June is a prime season for azalea, wisteria, peony and peony iris. In June, hydrangea, water lily and lotus flowers color the park. In autumn, maple leaves and ginkgo leaves cover the park.

Plum (January – February)

At the garden near Fukuoka castle Ninomaru, approximately 250 plums trees bloom

Cherry blossom (March – April)

About 1,000 cherry blossom trees in Maizuru Park and Ohori Park bloom. It is the most popular seasons of the year.

Tulip (March-April)

In spring, tulips color around the pond in Ohori Park.

Wisteria (April – May)

At Fuzen, which boasts a 1,300 square meter area, you can enjoy light-purple wisteria flowers at large.

azalea (April – May)

About 4,000 azalea bloom in the Azalea Garden such as Hirado azalea, Satsuki, Kurume azalea and etc. and the contrast with the fresh green is beautiful.

Peony (April – May)

At the Otaka Residence, which was a retreat of Josui Kuroda (Japanese Military Commander), about 400 peony are in full bloom in April and Chinese peony will be in full bloom in May!

Water lily (April – October)

The two moats in Fukuoka castle ruins are covered with beautiful water lilies for about half a year from the end of April.

Iris (May – June)

The iris garden is dazzlingly beautiful in full bloom receiving bright early summer sunshine.

Fresh green (May-July)

It is filled with fresh green that makes you forget that you are in the center of Fukuoka.

Hydrangea (June – July)

Purple and indigo petals sparkle like the sunshine.

Lotus (July – September)

The lotus blooming in the Fukuoka castle ruins is pale pink in color. We recommend viewing then in the morning.

Sunflower (July – August)

When summer comes around, sunflowers bloom around the pond.

Autumn cherry (September – November)

The autumn cherry blossoms next to Starbucks coffee in Ohori Park gently watch the runners running around the pond.

Miscanthus sinensis(September – November)

The green miscanthus sinensis turns white and changes from silver to gold, and the glittering sparkles in the sunset is worth seeing. The area around the Shiomi tower moat is the best spot to enjoy.

Autumn leaves(October – November)

You can see the autumn leaves of Ginkgo and Momiji (maple trees) and enjoy the carpet of fallen leaves.

Sasanqua (October – December)

Sasanqua is in full glory in the Japanese garden of Ohori Park and Maizuru Park. It has a variety of flower colors, such as white, red resembling camellia.

narcissus(December – February)

The white narcissus bloom beautifully with gentle smell in front of Fukuoka Castle Najima gate.
